Purchase 30 seconds of television and run the television ad of your choice. SaysMeTv buys ad space in bulk and sells it to individuals, in some markets for as little as $6. They are not in the Portland area yet, but plan on expanding there soon. For more info on SaysMe check out their website, www.saysme.tv or read a recent piece Ryan wrote about them in Huffington Post (and then digg it!)
Do You Digg? Digg is a website where its members post articles and videos they find interesting. When other members agree find the posts worthy they are voted up, the cream rises, and the top stories find the front page of digg. More often than not the talking points pundits go over in the news can be found on the front page of digg hours before their show airs. If you want to influence what the talking heads will be talking over, make yourself heard.
Read and participate in Huffington Post. The Huff is a great website that melds user generated content (blogs), the best of other websites, and content generated by the staff of Huffington Post into a central center for political news. The Huff uses page hits, comments, and digg to determine what articles make the front page of their website. Small d Democracy in the media.
Contribute to a progressive blog. Huffington Post has their own blog system but unless you write something A LOT of people will want to read its unlikely no one will read it. Starting your thoughts in a small venue and then getting it moved up to the bigger venue via Digg is the way to go. Here are a few suggestions:OpenLeft: OpenLeft is a blog for progressive minded folks to get their voice out there.

DailyKos: One of the more popular blogging sites. People like Keith Olberman and Nancy Pelosi have blogs here.
